Two things are back I think you’ll be happy about! First, the sumo oranges are back in the stores! These are life-changing oranges that are, in my opinion, the best there are. And they are back! Second, I’m back! I’ve been away for a bit because I had a second health crisis this year. I got a detached retina while traveling in Europe. Had to fly back for emergency retina surgery. It went well, and I’m on the mend. But everything had to stop and slow down for a while. I’ll be sharing some reflections on that experience soon. In the meantime, I’m back, trying to figure out how we can all navigate life and everything that’s going on around us. Sending much love and gratitude throughout the holiday season!

Someone once called me stupid — and it turned out to be the best advice I ever got. Back in college, I passed the Foreign Service exam, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do… so I threw out the paperwork. Later that year, a grad school classmate said, “You seem really smart, but that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.” Then he said something that stuck with me: “Life’s about opening doors, not closing them.” He was right. I called and asked for new forms. A year later, that open door changed everything. A lot of people have been asking me “Steve, you mentioned something called the ‘Integrity and Joy Way’ but what is that? And how can it support me?” Like anything in life, we need frameworks. When we are unwilling to forgive - either ourselves or another - we are the ones carrying around resentment and anger. We are the ones experiencing these emotions and are consequently suffering. The other person is going about their day probably oblivious to how you’re feeling. Yet it’s YOU who is suffering.
