Life Coaching FAQS

In case you were wondering...

How can working with Steve Walker help me live a life of integrity and joy?

I can help in so many ways!  I can help you:

  • Define your core values, beliefs and goals.

  • Design and adopt plans and habits that will help you be more consistent every day in staying true to your values and beliefs and on track to achieve your goals, living with more integrity and joy.

  • Discover and break through the obstacles and mindsets that limit you or block your path to greater success, meaning and joy.

  • Get back on track when life presents crises, challenges, conflicts, and other challenges that cause us to lose our focus, our confidence, our direction.

  • Identify the people, places, activities, and jobs that bring you joy and how to have more of them in your life.

What does it mean to live a life of integrity?

Living with integrity means:

  • living consistent with your values and priorities;

  • being true to your word -- with yourself and others; and

  • going to bed at night knowing you did the best you could that day.

Why is it important to live a life of integrity?  What does that have to do with creating more joy in my life?

Living with integrity allows us to live with more courage, purpose and authenticity -- and to find more love and joy in our lives!

Living with integrity:

  • lowers our stress and anxiety while providing clarity, focus and a sense of purpose to our life;

  • reduces fear of judgment and criticism because we know we are living our best life consistent with our own values;

  • makes sure our goals are aligned with our values, what brings us joy, and a true sense of purpose and meaning.

  • helps us be more consistent in our day-to-day decision-making and setting priorities, so that we put our energy into the activities and relationships that bring us joy and help us achieve our goals;

  • strengthens our resiliency, enabling us to not only survive but emerge stronger and wiser from transitions, crises, conflicts and other challenges we encounter along the way; and

  • empowers us to be our authentic selves, which then opens us up to finding real, meaningful connections with others who like and love us for who we really are.

What is the difference between a life coach and a therapist?

  • Great question! A therapist usually is trained to treat mental health challenges and mental illness, and to help people develop better cognititive and emotional skills.

  • A life coach does not diagnose, treat or address mental illness. The focus of a life coach is on the present and the future. A life coach helps you identify goals, develop strategies and plans for achieving those goals, and overcome obstacles that are getting in the way of living the life you want to live.

  • What makes me unique is that I am particularly focused on helping you create a vision for your life and set goals that are consistent with your core values and your authentic self, then guiding you through the process of creating a plan and implementing strategies to live that vision and accomplish those goals. The result is a life built on living with integrity and filled with more joy.

Do you meet in person, on the phone or online?

  • If you are local to the Boston area or the South Shore, we can probably set up in person sessions if that's what you prefer.

  • Otherwise, sessions are either on the phone or video chat using FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom, or another platform convenient to us both.

Do you work with clients outside the United States?

  • Absolutely!  We can find a time convenient to us both regardless of your time zone.  WhatsApp and Zoom are ideal for clients outside the US.
